Who Needs IELTS?

The IELTS test is required for students, professionals, and migrants applying to:

  • Universities in Australia, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, and the USA

  • Work or permanent residency visas in English-speaking countries

  • Academic and career advancement abroad

Most institutions require an overall score of 6.0 or higher. IELTS tests are administered in Nepal by IDP Education.

How to Register for IELTS?

  • Choose your testing provider: IDP Nepal
  • Submit a copy of your valid passport
  • Pay the registration fee (NPR 19,500)
  • Registration closes 15 days prior to test date

Test Format and Scoring

  • 4 recordings | 30 minutes | 10 questions each

  • Academic: 3 passages | General: 5 passages | 60 minutes

  • Academic: Report + Essay | General: Letter + Essay | 60 minutes
  • 3-part interview | 11–15 minutes | Conducted on a different day

Each section scored on a band scale from 0–9.

Your overall score is the average of four modules
Rounded per official rules:

7.75 = 8.0

7.25 = 7.5

7.10 = 7.0
